It is very obvious that things are changing in the photography world and a lot has to do with the fact that you can take very decent photos with your phone and they are getting better. If you are not a serious amateur photographer and you just want to take good quality photos then your phone is your best option, you take the photo and you put your phone back in your pocket, it can’t get easier, and after that if you want to crop it enhance the colors erase anything you need to erase you can do it all in your phone no need to download the photos from your camera/usb drive into your laptop, and then after editing your photo, right there on your phone you can uploaded to any of your favorite social media outlets, why buy a camera if everything is done in your phone, even bokeh effect to make your photo pro looking.
The other change in the photography world is that there are some very good photos being taken with phones that compete with photos taken with cameras of several thousands of dollars, how can that be?
well it’s because some camera photographers have the eye to pick better scenes than some camera owners that think the camera makes the photo, so if you are an amateur photographer what are you going to do to make your photos stand out from the new amateur phone camera photographers?
I believe that there is no other way to go but to learn to see better and pick better your scenes, after all that has always been what sets apart a good photographer from the bad ones, the scene.
How important is the scene you picked for your photos?
Well let me just say that it separates good from bad photography, and i’m not talking about the techniques and rules of photography, those are secondary in importance, what good is for you to add all the good techniques to a bad scene, no matter how many techniques and rules you throw at an image if the image is boring and without any soul or life then the techniques and rules are wasted.
Learning to pick a good scene is more important than learning the techniques of photography, once you have mastered how to identify a good scene then you can apply all the techniques you want, but not until you know how to pick a good scene.
How to learn to pick good scenes?
Well start by understanding that there are many types of good scenes, but one characteristic that is a common denominator in all good photos is that it has a unique characteristic.
